Hello and welcome to another short Thursday post where I explain another theatre term you may or may not have heard of!
Today's term is...
Pre Rig!
So what is a pre rig? Well if someone asks you for a pre rig or pre-rig (i'm dyslexic don't judge my lack or over use of hyphens I often cannot see them) they will want you to prepare (rig) some lights to the truss over the stage before their get in. This means that the get in day will be shorter as the lights are already in place so a company can focus on other things like putting up the set or checking the sound etc.
You're most likely going to come across the term in two situations
1) if you're touring a show and need the venues you're touring to to pre rig some lights for you
2) you're a programmer or technical person in a venue and a company coming in wants something pre rigged before their get in
Did you know this term? Let me know...
Also you can check out my TikTok on this here too if you want to hear me chat away about terms and follow for a new one most Thursdays!
