The end of week 2 is upon us and the start of a new month too!
This week has been really exciting as I've signed my second freelance contract of the year!
I am super thrilled to be producing No Man's Island by James Meteyard and Jammz for The Big House later this year!

It's great to be managing a few projects that I can really get stuck into and see flourish.
However, the hustle is real so I am still very much seeking out opportunities and writing more applications. However, this is something that I've learnt I really enjoy doing. I love finding new roles and projects to be apart of, I even like crafting cover letters and thinking about the difference I could make as a leader in each project I apply for. I've also began to think about how I can craft my career to reflect my goals, ambitions and the things I've passionate about. Namely, new writing, lifting up working class voices in the industry and helping to bring people joy through the arts. I do know though that for some constantly writing applications and scouring twitter and arts jobs is not their favourite past time so it is something to consider when deciding how you want to work.
The flexibility of freelancing has really been a positive thing for me this week as I've needed to be in the North rather than down in London and I've been able to do everything I needed to while being around for important things in my personal life too. I have however felt like I've fallen out of my morning routine as I got so used to getting up, getting showered, getting dressed, making coffee, journalling and jumping in the car but now I'm finding that I'm getting a lot less of that routine done and starting working earlier which isn't a bad thing but I do miss the quiet me time I was having before driving to the office. So because of this next week I've time blocked my calendar with specific work sections which are the chunks of time that I need to be working to cover my freelance hours like I did last week but also as well as blank hours for things like my morning routine, coffees with friends and general life stuff. This still keeps my flexibility but hopefully will also prompt me to take that time away in a morning too.
So the round up
Things to try or keep doing next week
- time blocking my free time and stick to it (that parts key)
Tips for you
- When you're looking at how you want to work, part time, full time or freelance remember to think about how you're sustaining or applying for that work too, if you don't like writing apps then maybe freelancing isn't for you right now or if you want to do a bit of both maybe look for something part time!
- Don't forget to check in with how you feel and take time for rest too!
